I knew John through his work at The Royal Philatelic Society London. As part of the Expert Committee there, he made an extremely valuable contribution to the study of philately. He also played a very active role in promoting the Society (and the several other philatelic clubs he belonged to), and was so encouraging and friendly to everyone he met.
I will remember John as a generous, supportive and kind man who lived life to the full, happy to spare time for others and share his knowledge. He was also such a gentleman - always smartly dressed and never complaining (although occasionally I would hear a 'Drat!' from the other side of the room!).
The attached photos were taken in the summer of 2018. John was at work at the Royal on the day of the RAF Centenary flypast, and we popped outside to try and get a glimpse of some of it!
Thank you for everything John! I will miss you.
